The essentials

  • Broken-in walking shoes (never new ones!)
  • Technical walking socks (at least 2 pairs per day)
  • Blister plasters & sports tape
  • Sunscreen & cap
  • Compact rain poncho
  • Enough water & snacks
  • Change of clothes for after the finish

The most underrated item: recovery sandals

After 40+ km, the last thing your feet want is to stay in walking shoes. VELOUS sandals give your feet the space to breathe and recover — so you can start the next day feeling fresh again.

What NOT to bring

  • New shoes (never wear untested footwear at an event)
  • A heavy backpack (keep it under 10% of your body weight)
